Maurice Ogeta, the longtime personal bodyguard of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, addressed the widely shared video that many Kenyans believed captured his final moments in India.
Appearing on KTN News, Ogeta explained that the clip showing Odinga walking down a glass‑walled corridor in a hospital gown was recorded during his earlier treatment in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, not at the Ayurvedic centre in Kerala, India.
The anchor on the programme displayed the footage, which features Ogeta a few steps behind Odinga, before the bodyguard provided the correction.
Many viewers had assumed the video was taken at the Ayurvedic centre in Kerala, where Odinga spent his final days, a belief that Ogeta said was inaccurate.
Ogeta reiterated that Odinga collapsed on 15 October 2025 while walking at a villa in India and was rushed to Devamatha Hospital in Koothattukulam, where he was pronounced dead, confirming the timeline of his travel from Dubai to India.
The clarification removes the misconception that the corridor footage represented a farewell glimpse, instead placing it months earlier during Odinga’s recovery in the Gulf.
