Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau have arrested six men linked to a string of violent robberies in Kajiado town and nearby areas.
The gang’s latest raid took place on August 8, 2025, when they attacked the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in the Elerai area of Mashuuru Sub-County. Dressed in police jungle fatigues and armed with crude weapons, they stormed the camp and fatally injured a watchman on duty. Investigators believe the same group is responsible for violent robberies in Kimana, Mashuru, Wote, and other locations.
Following the incident, detectives launched a manhunt. On August 19, 2025, they arrested Muoki Mulee in Kitengela and Ambrose Mutuku near Machakos Junction.
Interrogations revealed more. Ambrose led detectives to his house in Kitulu village, Machakos County, where they recovered police jungle uniforms believed to have been used in the robberies. Officers also seized KSh 49,000 in cash. Investigators discovered that both suspects are ex-convicts who had only been released from Machakos Prison in December 2024.
The operation then expanded to Kantafu, Matungulu Sub-County, where four more suspects were captured: Dominic Moenga Mwambi, Joseph Mamai, Gideon Nyaga Njeri, and Alex Mwaura Waweru. Detectives also impounded three vehicles—registration numbers KDJ 066S, KCX 851Q, and KDP 825D—which are believed to have been used to facilitate the crimes.
The six suspects are in custody as detectives finalize investigations. They are expected to face charges in court once processing is complete.
The arrests are a major breakthrough in the fight against violent gangs that have been terrorizing missionary camps and communities in Kajiado and beyond. The question now is—how many more criminal networks are operating under the disguise of police uniforms, and who could be backing them?
