Zoomlion Kenya Waste Services Limited inaugurated an Eco‑Friendly Waste Management Farm at Wangu Comprehensive Primary & Junior School in Dandora, Nairobi, on 9 October 2026, coinciding with Mazingira Day 2026.

The ceremony was attended by Nairobi County Woman Representative Hon. Esther Passaris, Zoomlion’s Head of Operations for Nairobi Kenneth Kumi, school headteacher Wachira Kagunya and Julius Were, a 2027 parliamentary aspirant.

Zoomlion described the farm as a demonstration site that converts organic urban waste into nutrient‑rich compost, aiming to reduce pressure on the city’s overburdened disposal sites.

Beyond compost production, the facility will serve as a hands‑on training hub for schoolchildren, youth and women‑led enterprises, promoting green skills, entrepreneurship and climate‑resilient food production.

Mazinga Day activities at the school included a guided tour, corporate social responsibility talks and environmental awareness sessions covering responsible waste disposal, recycling and tree planting.

Zoomlion positioned the project as proof that meaningful environmental progress requires coordinated effort among the private sector, public leaders and educational institutions.

Zoomlion’s broader waste‑management role in Nairobi

Zoomlion Kenya operates waste evacuation, market clean‑ups and organic‑waste recovery programmes across Nairobi, complementing the new farm’s focus on composting.

The company is a subsidiary of a Pan‑African waste‑management group with origins in Ghana, emphasizing locally driven solutions to environmental challenges.
