Zelestra’s Reclamation Solar project in Gibson County, Indiana, has secured $350 million in green credit facilities from CIBC, BBVA and Société Générale, with CIBC acting as the left‑lead arranger on the syndicated loan.
During peak construction, the project is projected to support around 200 jobs, a modest workforce compared with historic coal mining activity on the site.
Ines Serrao, head of U.S. project finance and infrastructure at CIBC, said the transaction demonstrates lenders’ ability to deliver financing solutions for large‑scale renewable projects and meet growing power demand in the United States.
Zelestra’s U.S. CFO Sybil Milo Cioffi noted that the $1 billion in U.S. project financing secured in 2026 marks a milestone for the developer’s rapid build‑out, enabling it to keep pace with market demand.
The developer frames the project as a regeneration effort, planning soil restoration, native vegetation planting and biodiversity enhancements as part of the conversion of the former mine site.
Zelestra’s broader U.S. pipeline totals about 16 GW of renewable projects, targeting hyperscalers and large corporate customers across key markets, with the Reclamation Solar asset exemplifying its strategy of bankable, single‑customer solar plants on brownfield sites.
