Workable has been awarded the WELL Coworking Rating, making it the first workspace in Africa to meet the international health benchmark that evaluates air and water quality, lighting, comfort, fitness and mental wellbeing.
The certification was granted to Workable’s flexible workplace in Nairobi under the standard created by the International WELL Building Institute in partnership with The Instant Group.
With this rating, Workable joins a limited group of global flexible‑workspace operators that have adopted the WELL Coworking framework.
Founder and CEO Samir Patel said the achievement gives Nairobi‑based organisations access to a workspace that aligns with recognised wellbeing and ESG criteria, and that the firm will keep raising its standards as it expands across Africa.
Sam Pickering, managing director of Incendium – part of The Instant Group – noted that the rating illustrates how coworking operators are centring health and wellbeing in their strategies.
Ann Marie Aguilar, senior vice‑president for EMEA at IWBI, congratulated Workable and described the certification as leadership for Africa’s flexible‑workspace sector, adding that it supports the global push for healthier workplaces.
Workable also holds EDGE certification for resource‑efficient design, underscoring its broader commitment to sustainable and health‑focused office environments.
The WELL Coworking Rating provides a structured framework that helps operators improve occupants’ health by addressing factors such as air and water quality, lighting, physical comfort, fitness opportunities and mental wellbeing.
