Abdullahi Sajo, a United Democratic Alliance‑aligned candidate endorsed by the Gareen community, announced his intent to contest the Wajir North parliamentary seat in the 2027 general election.
He committed to drilling a total of 45 boreholes over a five‑year term, targeting at least three boreholes per sub‑county each year, which would amount to nine new wells annually.
The borehole programme is to be pursued with development partners, NGOs and the national government, subject to resource availability, feasibility studies and successful partnerships.
Sajo also pledged to leverage his professional and international networks to create overseas employment pathways for young Kenyans in Gulf states and Europe, working only with legitimate employers and recruitment agencies.
To boost women’s economic empowerment, the candidate said he would encourage the formation of registered women’s groups and savings associations, linking them to government programmes and development organisations for market access, training and affordable financing.
Education and health are also on his agenda; he will advocate for better‑equipped schools, improved learning facilities, support for vulnerable students and measures to address teacher shortages.
In the health sector, Sajo plans to push for better‑equipped facilities, adequate staffing, essential medicines and enhanced maternal and child health services.
Infrastructure and security commitments include improving road links between villages and markets, expanding electricity and communication networks, and coordinating with authorities to tackle insecurity.
He called for greater accountability in development projects through regular community consultations and transparent reporting on resource allocation and progress.
