Visa has entered a two‑year digital transformation partnership with Senegal’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding that sets a framework for cooperation on digital payments, financial innovation and cybersecurity.
The agreement will focus on practical digital solutions to improve public‑service delivery and widen access to financial services, including government‑to‑person (G2P) and person‑to‑government (P2G) payment channels.
Senegal’s Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf, said the partnership will help translate the country’s digital ambitions into tangible outcomes that address everyday citizen needs.
Visa’s Senior Vice President for Western and Central Africa, Aminata Kane, indicated the firm will work with the ministry to identify opportunities that expand access to digital services and strengthen the national payments landscape.
The partnership aligns with Senegal’s New Deal Technologique, a national agenda aimed at bolstering digital capabilities and integrating technology across sectors, with digital payments and secure financial services earmarked as central pillars.
While the MoU establishes a basis for project identification, specific implementation timelines and individual initiatives have not yet been announced.
