Vantage Data Centers bought the 180‑acre site earmarked for the Powhatan Technology Park data‑center campus, paying about $9.4 million for the combined parcels.

County records show the deal was split into two transactions on Oct. 21: a 120‑acre tract at 1318 Page Road for $5.7 million and a 60‑acre addition for $3.65 million.

The parcels were previously owned by New County Line Farm LLC, linked to Harold and Christina Ellis, and JMS Investments LLC, linked to Mark and Deborah Sowers.

Vantage confirmed the purchase via email on Friday, stating it is evaluating development opportunities but has no further details to share at this time.

The site straddles the Powhatan‑Chesterfield county line, east of Page Road and north of Anderson Highway, and is the largest data‑center project approved in the county’s history.

County officials approved the original 120‑acre project in 2024, with an additional 60 acres added in October 2025, bringing the total to 180 acres.

Plans call for up to four detached data‑center buildings covering roughly 2 million square feet, to be built over at least five phases.

The project’s developer, Province Group, has not yet submitted a site plan, and the identity of the end‑user remains undisclosed.

Vantage, founded in 2010, already operates three campuses in Ashburn and one in Fredericksburg, adding to its Virginia portfolio as competition intensifies with nearby Google projects.

County staff note that, while the land purchase is complete and approvals are in place, the next step is the submission of a detailed site plan.
