The Home Office released the 2026 Global Universities List on 1 November 2026, naming 82 institutions whose graduates can qualify for the High‑Potential Individual (HPI) visa.
The list applies to degrees awarded between 1 November 2026 and 31 October 2027, and candidates must meet additional Home Office requirements such as English‑language proficiency and financial thresholds.
Applicants do not need a prior job offer or employer sponsorship, but graduation from a listed university does not guarantee a visa grant.
The United States contributes the largest share of institutions, including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Yale, Princeton and several University of California campuses.
China is represented by Peking, Tsinghua, Fudan, Zhejiang and Shanghai Jiao Tong universities, while other Asian entries include Seoul National University, KAIST, Kyoto University, the University of Tokyo, Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore.
Australian universities on the list feature the Australian National University, Monash, Melbourne, New South Wales and Queensland, and European representation spans Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium and Denmark.
No university from Nigeria or any other African country appears on the 2026 list, meaning African graduates must attend a listed institution abroad to be eligible.
Prospective applicants are advised to verify their institution’s inclusion and the eligible award dates in the official Home Office publication before submitting a visa application.
