Over 50 Ugandan tourism professionals landed on Kenya’s coast on 21 October 2026, beginning a multi‑day familiarisation tour organised by the Ugandan Consulate in Mombasa and local coastal stakeholders.

The delegation will travel through Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Taita Taveta counties, visiting beaches, marine parks, heritage sites, hotels and resorts to experience the region’s tourism assets first‑hand.

Participants aim to return to Uganda equipped to package and market Kenya Coast holidays and to forge direct working relationships with Kenyan counterparts.

A subset of the group will compete in the Uganda‑Kenya Coast Open golf tournament at Vipingo Ridge on 24 October before joining the summit.

Ambassador Herbert Kiguli, Consul General of Uganda in Mombasa, said the exercise is intended to turn regional integration into tangible tourism collaboration.

The tour precedes the 5th Uganda‑Kenya Coast Tourism and Innovation Summit, scheduled for 26‑27 October 2026 at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort in Mombasa.

Kenya Tourism Board data show Ugandan arrivals rose 16 % from 2024 to 2025, making Uganda Kenya’s second‑largest source market, while Kenyan visitor numbers to Uganda grew 11 % in the same period.

Combined visitor exchanges between the two countries exceeded 750,000 in 2025, contributing to record tourism earnings for both nations.
