Detectives have taken two suspects into custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of shoe trader Paul Mwangangi at Kariokor Market, Nairobi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the victim was stabbed along Landhies Road, opposite the Muthurwa Market footbridge, on 12 October 2026.
Officers who arrived at the scene found Mwangangi lying face down with a fresh stab wound to the chest.
Crime Scene Investigation detectives processed the area, documented evidence and moved the body to City Mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.
Following an intelligence-led operation, DCI Central and Kamukunji detectives, together with Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations officers, located the suspects in a hideout in Kayole and arrested them.
The men were identified as Joseph Kimani Ndungu, known as Bajong, and Peter Kimani Githinji, known as Denoo.
Both suspects were taken to Kamukunji Police Station, where they remain in custody pending further investigation and court arraignment.
Detectives also recovered a blood‑stained Maasai sword believed to have been used in the killing, which has been secured as a forensic exhibit.
The DCI expressed condolences to the victim’s family and affirmed its commitment to pursue all leads and bring those responsible to justice under the law.
