Two people were reported dead after a trailer ran them over at the Railway Bridge in Nakuru on Wednesday, October 7.
The accident occurred near Medi Junction on the Nakuru‑Nairobi highway as motorists approached Nakuru’s central business district during the morning rush.
One victim was identified as a pupil from St. Joseph Primary School and the other as a boda‑boda rider, both of whom had alighted from a matatu and were walking when struck.
Early accounts suggest the trailer may have lost control due to a suspected brake failure, though authorities have not confirmed the cause.
Emergency responders arrived to find one victim trapped in the wreckage; at the time of reporting one person was dead and the other critically injured.
Footage captured by the outlet showed a crowd gathered around the scene, an emergency vehicle on site, and the damaged trailer parked nearby with a broken front bumper.
The crash caused a major traffic snarl along the highway, affecting motorists heading into Nakuru town.
The Railway Bridge has previously been described by residents as one of the most dangerous crossing points when entering the CBD from the Nairobi‑Nakuru highway.
