On 13 October 2026 the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) ordered the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) to cease any action on registering or gazetting the Wiper Democratic Movement under the new title “The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA)”.
PPDT chair Innocent Muganda declared the application filed by Allan Jayuga Akivaga urgent, prompting the issuance of the interim orders that day.
The order specifically restrains the Registrar, its staff and agents from approving, gazetting, registering or taking any further administrative steps toward the proposed name.
Akivaga must serve his notice of motion, dated 8 October 2026, on both the Registrar and Wiper by 14 October 2026, after which the respondents have a seven‑day window to file their replies.
The tribunal scheduled a further hearing for 29 October 2026 at 2:30 pm to verify compliance and issue additional directions.
These measures are provisional; they do not resolve the underlying dispute over the reservation of the name made on 20 July 2026.
Both the Registrar and the Wiper Democratic Movement will be given an opportunity to respond to Akivaga’s allegations before the tribunal reaches a final determination.
