Award‑winning sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala attended the Nairobi launch of Toyota’s ninth‑generation Hilux G9 on Thursday, October 29, posing beside the new pickup and highlighting its relevance to his brand ambassadorship.
The Hilux G9 arrives in Kenya as a 2.8‑litre 1GD turbo diesel Double Cab automatic, offered in two trim levels – Mid and High.
Both variants produce 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque, delivered through a six‑speed automatic gearbox with Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes.
The Mid trim is priced at KSh 7.8 million, while the High specification costs KSh 10.8 million.
Key off‑road capabilities include a four‑wheel‑drive system, Multi‑Terrain Select, rear differential lock and Downhill Assist Control, supported by 312 mm ground clearance and a payload of roughly one tonne.
Fuel consumption is quoted at about 12 km per litre from an 80‑litre tank, with a towing capacity of 3,500 kg.
Inside, the Mid model features an eight‑inch touchscreen, wireless charging, cruise control and an eight‑speaker audio system.
The High variant upgrades to a 12.3‑inch infotainment display, leather seats, a nine‑speaker premium sound system, electrically adjustable driver’s seat and a 360‑degree camera.
Both trims share dual‑zone automatic climate control, tyre‑pressure monitoring, an electric parking brake and power‑folding mirrors, giving the G9 a more refined feel than previous models.
