Three men and women—Erick Omondi Ochieno, Donna Moraa Omanwa and Clinton Maloba Anzoka—appeared before Magistrate Joan Mati at the Milimani Law Courts on 19 October, where they entered not‑guilty pleas to all charges.

The prosecution alleges the trio impersonated employees of Green Planet Kenya Limited to defraud victims on 15‑16 July, and that they handled money linked to criminal activity.

Specifically, the charge sheet states Donna Moraa Omanwa received KSh 1,000 via a Safaricom M‑Pay account and Clinton Maloba Anzoka acquired KSh 550 from the same source, both transferred to their Choice Microfinance Bank accounts.

Both Omanwa and Anzoka also face separate counts of possession or acquisition of proceeds of crime under the Proceeds of Crime and Anti‑Money Laundering Act.

In addition to the impersonation charge under Section 382(1) of the Penal Code, the defendants are charged with offences under the Proceeds of Crime and Anti‑Money Laundering Act.

Magistrate Mati granted each suspect a bond of KSh 50,000 or an alternative cash bail of KSh 30,000, allowing their release pending further proceedings.

The defence argued that the alleged offences are misdemeanours and sought lenient bail conditions, a request the magistrate accommodated.

The case is scheduled for a pre‑trial hearing on 9 November.
