Thailand's Immigration Bureau has published a checklist of four essential documents that foreigners must submit when applying for a residence permit.
Applicants need to provide a valid passport or an equivalent travel document accepted by Thai authorities.
An up‑to‑date alien identification card showing a recent photograph and a matching address from the household registration is also required.
The original house registration certificate and a copy, including the page with the house number and the page bearing the applicant’s name, must be submitted.
Five passport‑style photographs measuring 4 × 6 cm, showing the upper half of the body and face without a hat, taken within the last six months, are mandatory; Polaroids are not accepted.
The application fee is set at 19,000 Thai baht, roughly KSh 76,000, and the bureau estimates processing will take up to 15 business days.
Applications are handled by Immigration Bureau Division 1, Residence Certificate Section, located on the second floor of Building B at the Government Complex in Bangkok.
Foreigners, including Kenyans, are advised to verify the latest requirements with the Immigration Bureau before submitting their paperwork to avoid delays.
