The State Department for Agriculture issued a request for expressions of interest on 6 October, inviting consulting firms to conduct an assessment of deforestation, wetlands, riparian ecosystems and groundwater potential under the Integrated Natural Resources Management Programme (INReMP).
The assignment, financed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), will run for 120 days and requires the preparation of a Natural Resources Monitoring Framework that combines baseline assessments, geospatial analysis, field verification and a spatial database.
Kenyan firms must submit a valid Kenya Revenue Authority tax compliance certificate, proof of business registration or incorporation, and evidence of at least ten years of continuous operation.
Additional required documents include a valid trading licence or business permit, CR12 details and identification for company directors, together with the completed expression‑of‑interest forms.
Applicants may strengthen their bids through joint ventures or sub‑consultancies, but current government employees and client staff are excluded where conflicts of interest could arise.
Expressions of interest must be received by 11 am on Thursday, 22 October, either by physical delivery to the INReMP offices in Eldoret or by email.
Geographic scope of the assessment
The baseline assessment will cover ten counties – Kisumu, Kakamega, Kericho, Homa Bay, Migori, Nandi, Elgeyo‑Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu – focusing on the Cherangany Water Tower, Mau West Catchment and the Lake Victoria Basin.
These ecosystems serve an estimated two million people in surrounding communities who rely on them for their water and livelihood needs.
Data collection will combine field assessments with geospatial analysis and verification, culminating in a spatial database to support ongoing natural‑resource management.
