Standard Chartered Kenya confirmed that on Sunday, 25 October 2026, eleven major roads across Nairobi will be closed or diverted for up to 14 hours to accommodate the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
The closures affect corridors in Kikuyu, Karen, Dagoretti, Langata and the Mombasa Road area, with restrictions in force from 12 am to 2 pm.
Motorists are urged to familiarise themselves with the designated alternative routes before travelling, as the lender advised drivers to plan journeys in advance.
Specific diversions depend on the driver’s origin and destination; for example, traffic from Kikuyu to Dagoretti should use the Southern Bypass, while the reverse direction (Karen to Kikuyu) also routes via the Southern Bypass through Dagoretti Road.
Drivers heading from Karen Shopping Centre to Kikuyu will be redirected to Dagoretti Road, and those travelling from the same area to Mombasa Road must use Langata Road.
Motorists from the Galleria Mall area on Langata Road bound for Kikuyu should take Dagoretti Road via Langata Road, while traffic to Mombasa Road from that point will be routed through Uhuru Highway.
Lorries and trailers departing the Inland Container Depot for Kikuyu are instructed to travel via Waiyaki Way, Mombasa Road and Uhuru Highway.
Vehicles moving from Mombasa Road to Ole Sereni should use the Nextgen Mall route, while traffic on Likoni Road heading to Mombasa Road via the Southern Bypass will be diverted onto Enterprise Road.
Motorists travelling from Lenana toward Mombasa Road via the Southern Bypass will be directed along Langata Road through Karen Road, while those heading to Kikuyu via the Southern Bypass should take Waiyaki Way via Naivasha Road or James Gichuru Road.
