Spotify announced that its audiobook catalogue will be introduced to Kenya alongside South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana as it expands from 22 to over 180 markets by the close of 2026.

Kenyan listeners will be able to access the new titles through a combination of subscription‑based add‑ons and one‑off purchases, with pricing and specific models to be set locally.

In African markets, Spotify will use the Audiobooks+ model, which lets Premium subscribers buy extra listening time on top of their existing music plan.

Premium Family and Duo accounts can add a recurring Audiobooks+ add‑on that provides 15 hours of audiobook listening each month, while individual titles can also be purchased outright and retained in the user’s library.

Spotify highlighted its Page Match feature, which lets users switch from a printed book or e‑book to the corresponding audiobook, now supporting barcode scanning and page‑number syncing in more than 30 languages.

The company said monthly audiobook listeners have risen by nearly 40 % over the past year, with listening hours up more than 30 %, underscoring growing demand that the Kenyan rollout aims to meet.
