Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot publicly criticised People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro for questioning billionaire Aliko Dangote’s investment in the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).

Speaking on Thursday, 22 October 2026, Cheruiyot said Nyoro had misinterpreted the share transaction and shifted his stance on the valuation and privatisation of the state‑owned pipeline firm.

Nyoro alleged that President William Ruto and Dangote were colluding to take control of the strategic oil pipeline entity, a claim Cheruiyot rejected as unfounded.

In a post on X, the senator labelled Nyoro a “Mutura economist” and argued that Dangote is an experienced corporate leader, not a target of any extortion scheme.

Cheruiyot noted that Nyoro had previously described KPC shares as overpriced at Ksh9.00, yet Dangote is offering Ksh9.36 per share, prompting the senator to question the basis of Nyoro’s opposition.

The senator highlighted that the share sale generated Ksh1.6 billion in profit for participating public institutions within six months, using the figure to argue the deal benefits the public.

Cheruiyot did not provide a detailed financial breakdown of the transaction, leaving the exact composition of the reported profit unverified.
