The Safire Connect Forum, organised by Safaricom, convened dairy farmers, agripreneurs, agricultural experts and industry partners in Githunguri to showcase how technology, financial services and agronomic advice can improve farm productivity and market reach.

The event was structured around three pillars – Grow, Protect and Connect – each targeting a different aspect of farm business development, from yield enhancement to financial management and digital market integration.

Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali‑Kimanthi, highlighted that digital tools are essential for farmers to access timely information, financing and market opportunities, stressing the need for solutions that are both accessible and practical.

During the Grow session, participants learned about improving yields, sourcing quality inputs and adopting better farming practices, with experts offering guidance on farm management and performance optimisation.

The Protect session focused on financial resilience, covering cash‑flow planning, savings habits, responsible credit use and the separation of personal and business finances to enhance financial clarity.

In the Connect segment, attendees explored how digital platforms and artificial intelligence can streamline decision‑making, improve access to information and link farmers directly to markets, including digital marketing tools for broader customer reach.

Githunguri’s economy, driven largely by dairy farming and supported by the Githunguri Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society, benefits from such initiatives as they aim to strengthen household incomes and diversify agricultural activities such as coffee, tea and horticulture.

Safaricom positions the Safire Connect Forum as part of an ongoing strategy to bring digital and financial solutions closer to Kenyan farmers, fostering more productive, financially resilient and sustainable agricultural enterprises.
