Safaricom introduced Family Share, a converged product that links a Home Fibre subscription with mobile voice and data allowances that can be shared with up to five family members, all appearing on one bill.
Four tiers are offered, differentiated mainly by fibre speed. The entry‑level Bronze plan costs KES 3,749 and provides 40 Mbps, 750 minutes and 14 GB of mobile data.
The Silver tier is priced at KES 5,100 and includes 60 Mbps, 1,000 minutes and 21 GB of data, while the Gold tier costs KES 7,799 for 150 Mbps, 1,500 minutes and 33 GB.
The top‑end Diamond plan is KES 13,999 and delivers 500 Mbps with the same 1,500 minutes and 33 GB mobile allowance as Gold, the higher price reflecting the speed boost.
Customers can upgrade between tiers for incremental fees – KES 1,351 to move from Bronze to Silver and KES 2,699 from Silver to Gold – gaining higher speeds, minutes and data each step.
Why Safaricom is bundling services
Safaricom says the bundle aims to make household connectivity spending more predictable, reducing the need to track separate fibre invoices and airtime purchases.
The company links the launch to its Pata More initiative and recent speed upgrades to Home Fibre that were offered at no extra charge, positioning Family Share as a value‑add to retain and grow its subscriber base.
Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali noted that customers increasingly work, learn and travel across locations and desire more value without added complexity.
Potential uptake and market reach
Safaricom reports a 27 % rise in active Fibre‑to‑the‑Home customers and an increase in the share of connected homes with active subscriptions from 66.8 % to 71.0 %, indicating room for further growth that the Family Share bundle seeks to capture.
