On the third day of his North Rift development tour, President William Ruto inspected the ongoing construction of the Kapsait–Kapsangar–Tapach–Sondany road in Pokot South Constituency, West Pokot County, and flagged off a KSh336 million last‑mile electricity connectivity project.
The road segment is valued at KSh2.3 billion and forms part of a broader county‑wide plan to improve transport links.
The government has announced a programme to construct 200 kilometres of roads across West Pokot at an estimated cost of KSh21 billion.
The electricity initiative aims to connect 1,960 households in Pokot South to the national grid, addressing long‑standing gaps in power access.
West Pokot’s overall electricity expansion programme is budgeted at KSh2.3 billion, targeting 10,000 homes across the county.
In neighbouring Kacheliba Constituency, the first KSh100 million phase of a KSh1 billion last‑mile electricity programme was also launched during the same visit.
President Ruto also outlined plans to build dams in Konyao through the National Infrastructure Fund, intended to supply water for domestic use, irrigation and livestock farming, though no specific locations or timelines were disclosed.
