President William Ruto officially opened a 27‑classroom tuition block at Kiminini Comprehensive School in Kiminini Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, during his North Rift development tour.
The new block is intended to ease overcrowding at the school, where enrolment has outstripped the capacity of existing facilities, giving teachers more space to organise lessons.
Ruto also highlighted a KSh18 billion road construction programme for Trans Nzoia, targeting 270 km of new roads to improve transport links across the county.
Electricity connectivity projects were announced, aiming to extend power supply to roughly 11,000 homes in the region.
The school commissioning forms part of a broader government push to expand public school infrastructure, alongside a digital learning drive that has equipped 10,382 junior schools with smart boards and laptops.
More than 64,000 teachers have undergone training to support the digital rollout, with the government targeting April 2027 to equip every remaining public junior school nationwide.
Officials noted that while new classrooms provide space, reliable electricity, teacher readiness and maintenance are essential for the investments to translate into better learning outcomes.
Together, the infrastructure and technology initiatives aim to address gaps that affect both education quality and broader economic access for residents of Trans Nzoia.
