Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL), in partnership with the Sunshine Tour (ST) East Africa Swing, announced a new "Road to MKO 2027" qualification pathway for regional professional golfers.

The pathway comprises eight designated tournaments, with each player's best four results counting toward a ranking that determines eligibility for the 2027 Magical Kenya Open, slated for 18–21 February 2027.

Points earned at each event will be weighted according to the tournament's prize fund, ensuring that higher‑value events contribute more to the qualification ranking.

The exact number of qualification slots for regional players remains under discussion between KOGL and the DP World Tour, pending final agreement.

The eight tournaments include the Uganda Open (1–5 September 2026, concluded), CIO Golf Classic in Port Harcourt, Nigeria (12–15 November 2026), and the Alpha Bravo Golf Classic in Lagos (18–21 November 2026).

Kenyan venues feature the Sundev EA Sigona Classic (6–8 December 2026), the Karen Leg of the Safari Tour (9–13 January 2027), the Limuru Challenge (17–19 January 2027), the Muthaiga Leg (30 January–3 February 2027), and the Tour Finale at Karen Country Club (5–7 February 2027).

KOGL and the Sunshine Tour say the series is designed to strengthen professional golf development across East Africa by offering a clear, competitive route to an internationally recognised event.

Successful players will join the DP World Tour's Magical Kenya Open, which traditionally brings together leading global professionals alongside qualified regional talent.
