A video that shows a woman identified as Jahenda being surrounded and threatened by several other women in a club restroom has ignited widespread outrage across Kenya.

Riara University confirmed that some of the women appearing in the clip are enrolled students and issued a statement unequivocally condemning violence, intimidation, bullying, harassment or any misconduct.

Although the alleged incident occurred off‑campus, the university said the conduct may fall within its student code of conduct and has therefore opened an internal review while promising to cooperate with investigative authorities.

Redeemed Gospel Church Buruburu, which reports that one of the women in the footage is a member of its congregation, expressed sadness and stressed that church affiliation does not excuse anyone from accountability.

The church also voiced concern for Jahenda, calling for her healing and for those responsible to be held accountable as investigations proceed.

Two of the women featured in the video have publicly apologised; one, identified as Vanayah, said she was disappointed in herself and accepted responsibility for her actions.

Public reaction, amplified by the #JusticeForJahenda campaign, continues to demand concrete action from law enforcement and the university, questioning whether apologies alone are sufficient.
