President William Ruto visited Nandi County on Saturday, inspecting housing, education and market projects that are part of a government‑led Sh18 billion investment package.

During the tour, Ruto commissioned the Kaiboi Economic Stimulus Programme Market, a facility intended to give traders and small‑scale entrepreneurs improved business premises.

The market is one of several modern trading centres the administration plans to build across the county to boost local enterprise.

Ruto also inspected the Nandi Hills Affordable Housing Project, which currently comprises 729 housing units and forms part of the national affordable‑housing programme.

The Sh18 billion allocation is slated to fund the construction of a total of 4,000 housing units, student accommodation with 7,000 beds and 15 modern markets in the region.

Officials say the housing scheme is expected to generate jobs not only in construction but also in related sectors such as building‑materials supply, transport and ancillary services.

Education infrastructure featured in the visit, with Ruto reviewing progress at Koitaleel Samoei University College where the administration block is near completion and new laboratories, lecture theatres and a library are under construction.

Plans are also advancing for the development of Samoei Senior School, aimed at expanding secondary‑education capacity in the area.

Ruto reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to continue implementing the broader development agenda, which links housing, market and education projects to job creation and improved public services.
