President William Ruto instructed that a three‑kilometre section of road leading to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s home in Mwingi North, Kitui County, be tarmacked as part of a Sh5 billion road programme for the constituency.
Speaking on Monday during a development tour, Ruto said the road should be included because every Kenyan, regardless of political differences, deserves to benefit from government projects.
The President also used the occasion to ask Musyoka to set aside any presidential ambitions and back Ruto’s re‑election campaign in 2027, recalling his own support for Musyoka’s 1992 parliamentary win in Mwingi under the KANU ticket.
Ruto highlighted that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki had also backed Musyoka in 2007, suggesting that past assistance should be returned in the upcoming election.
In the same tour, Ruto announced the launch of a Sh70 billion cement and clinker factory at Ngaaie in Mwingi North, to be operated by the Devki Group and expected to create about 4,000 jobs.
He urged young people to seek employment in the new plant and warned against “shylocks, brokers and extortionists” demanding bribes from investors, pledging government action against such practices.
Ruto also inaugurated a Sh145 million student‑hostel project at Tseikuru National Polytechnic, providing accommodation for 340 learners and announcing additional classroom construction to expand capacity for the institute’s 1,600 students.
