Emergency teams rescued a single construction worker from the multi‑storey building that collapsed on 9th Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi, and transferred him to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.

Police and the Kenya Red Cross confirmed the rescue while search and rescue operations continued at the site.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen stated that all 67 construction workers present at the time of the collapse have been accounted for, with 66 uninjured and one injured.

The injured worker’s condition was reported as stable after admission to the hospital.

Authorities said at least seven people remain missing following the collapse, and rescue teams are still working to locate anyone trapped beneath the rubble.

A multi‑agency response, including the Kenya Defence Forces, National Police Service, Nairobi City County Government, National Youth Service and Kenya Red Cross, is coordinating the ongoing search and clearance of debris.

Nairobi regional police commander Issa Mohamud indicated that teams are focusing on clearing rubble to reach lower floors, hoping to locate any additional victims.

Families of missing persons were urged to contact the Kenya Red Cross on the emergency number 1199 to aid identification and coordination.

The government pledged continued support for rescue teams and announced plans for psychosocial assistance for affected individuals and families.

Cabinet Secretary Murkomen assured the public that a thorough investigation into the collapse will be carried out by national and county agencies in collaboration with professional bodies.
