Ferdinand Omanyala announced on 2 November that his Omanyala Sprints Club will hold a boarding sprint camp at St Joseph’s Boys National School in Kitale between 29 November and 13 December 2026.
The camp is open to boys and girls aged 12 to 18 and will provide structured training in speed development, discipline and high‑performance preparation.
Designed as a 15‑day residential programme, it aims to give promising runners exposure to a coaching environment that is rarely accessible at the school level.
The camp forms part of the Omanyala Sprints Club, a grassroots initiative launched in December 2025 to identify sprint talent from as early as Grade 2 and to pair athletes with coaching in technique, strength, conditioning, injury prevention and competition preparation.
The club operates through school‑based hubs, partnering with institutions so athletes can balance academic commitments with serious training, and uses these hubs as feeder programmes into higher‑level competition.
Since its inception, the club has toured schools across Western Kenya, visiting Friends School Kamusinga in Bungoma, St Peter’s Mumias, Kakamega High School, Mitua Girls Senior School, and other sites, and has also run holiday training camps at Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium for athletes roughly aged 7 to 18.
Omanyala has said the broader vision of the initiative is succession planning for Kenyan sprinting, ensuring a pipeline of talent that can continue beyond his own competitive career.
