The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has labelled recent claims about the health of its leader, Senator Oburu Oginga, as fabricated and urged Kenyans to allow him time to recover.

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale issued a public statement on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, noting that the senator’s family is distressed by the ongoing spread of false information.

Etale said the senator is also disturbed by the reports as he continues to rest after several weeks of treatment both locally and abroad.

The party appealed for responsible sharing of information, emphasizing that freedom of expression should be balanced with respect for individuals’ privacy and well‑being.

Etale specifically asked those circulating the reports to give the leader adequate time to regain his strength before returning to active public life.

He warned that spreading unverified claims can cause unnecessary distress to the affected individuals and their families, urging the public to refrain from disseminating false information.

The statement was signed by Etale in his capacity as ODM director of communications.

Etale reiterated that the senator wishes the section of Kenyans spreading the news to give him time to recover fully, regain health and energy, and then return to active life soon.
