In a Homeboyz Radio interview on 14 October, Nairobi‑based rapper Octopizzo said his friendship with George Ruto dates back roughly ten years, well before the latter entered the political spotlight.
He recalled that George provided drone footage for one of Octopizzo’s projects around that time, a collaboration unrelated to any political agenda.
Octopizzo stressed that the partnership predates any political narratives, noting the bond existed “a full decade” before recent controversies surfaced.
He rejected accusations that he is a government plant, affirming his political stance remains aligned with the Linda Mwananchi movement and that his focus is music, not politics.
Octopizzo also addressed the social‑media backlash, saying previous attempts at cancel culture faded within two weeks and did not affect his career.
During the same interview he shared a personal memory of late opposition leader Raila Odinga, recalling a humorous encounter where Odinga gave him cash that he used to buy premium T‑shirts.
Octopizzo concluded by emphasizing that his artistic identity is separate from political manoeuvring, urging listeners to judge him by his music rather than alleged affiliations.
