Ngong Officer Commanding Station Jacob Ndunda directed that all children and school‑going minors remain indoors after 10 pm, stating that anyone found outside beyond that hour could be detained.

The order was announced at a public baraza on Thursday, 22 October, where Ndunda asked local administrators and security officers to relay the curfew to residents and ensure it is enforced.

He specifically highlighted students who do not possess national identity cards, urging parents and guardians to keep such children indoors after the 10 pm deadline.

Ndunda linked the curfew to the upcoming festive season, warning that families should know where their children are at night and avoid leaving minors unsupervised during the extended break.

He urged meeting participants to acknowledge the directive on the spot, emphasizing that the agreed‑upon rule would be implemented without later excuses.

The commander also warned suspected criminals operating in the area that police would not show leniency toward them.

The curfew is grounded in Kenya’s Public Order Act, which permits curfew orders under specified conditions, while the Constitution requires that detention of children be used only as a last resort.
