NCBA reaffirmed its support for Coast‑region businesses at the annual NCBA Johari Awards, gathering participants from motor vehicles, insurance, trade, logistics and commercial transport.
The Mombasa ceremony highlighted how asset finance underpins economic activity in a region that serves as Kenya’s principal trade and logistics gateway.
NCBA Group Director of Asset Finance and Business Solutions, Lennox Mugambi, said asset finance remains vital for keeping trade moving across the Coast, linking goods to markets and supporting transport operators.
He added that NCBA, as Kenya’s leading asset‑finance bank, funds commercial vehicles, equipment, machinery and other productive assets that enable growth and broader economic participation.
For many firms, acquiring vehicles or machinery is more than ownership; it expands market reach, creates jobs and improves livelihoods, especially for micro, small and medium enterprises and fleet owners balancing investment with daily cash‑flow needs.
Asset‑finance arrangements let businesses spread the cost of productive assets over time rather than paying the full amount upfront, easing cash‑flow pressures.
Mombasa’s strategic position as the gateway for a large volume of imports and exports makes access to such financing especially critical for transport, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing and trade enterprises.
Across the Coast, asset finance supports diverse activities, from prime movers hauling cargo from the Port of Mombasa to specialised logistics equipment, manufacturing machinery and cold‑chain infrastructure for agriculture and fisheries.
The Johari Awards, now rolled out in ten counties, recognize more than 150 partners—including regional winners and national champions—who contribute to Kenya’s mobility, enterprise and broader economic growth.
This year’s ceremony incorporated a sustainability theme aligned with NCBA’s Ubuntu philosophy, featuring a national tree‑planting drive to encourage partners, customers and communities toward collective environmental action.
Mugambi noted that the sustainability focus reflects the need for businesses to balance economic growth with broader societal contributions, emphasizing that business growth and responsibility go hand in hand.
