The Treasury announced that the public‑sector hearings for the FY 2027/28 and the medium‑term budget will run on 9, 12 and 13 October 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi.

Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury, John Mbadi Ng'ongo, will open the first session on Friday, 9 October 2026 at 7:30 a.m., with Hon. Samuel Atandi, MP and chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, also in attendance.

The meetings will be held in the KICC Amphi‑Theater and are grounded in Article 201(a) of the Constitution and Section 36 of the Public Finance Management Act, which require public participation in budget formulation.

Over the three days, participants will discuss the Medium‑Term Expenditure Framework, giving citizens and public‑sector stakeholders a structured chance to comment on spending priorities before the budget is finalised.

The Public Finance Management Act obliges the Treasury to consult the public before presenting the budget to Parliament, making these hearings a mandatory step in Kenya’s budget‑making calendar.

By moving the hearings to October, the Treasury gives stakeholders extra time to review the proposed allocations and submit their views on the 2027/28 spending plan.
