Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company announced that the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete pipeline will be taken offline for emergency repairs, creating a three‑day water outage for the capital.
The shutdown is set to begin at 11.59 pm on Monday, 26 October, and to end at the same hour on Thursday, 29 October, covering a 72‑hour period.
Engineers from the Athi Water Works Development Agency will carry out the repairs, and the water authority warned residents and businesses to store enough water to meet their needs throughout the interruption.
The outage will affect a wide swath of residential estates, including Riverside, Lavington, Kileleshwa, Kilimani, Kibera, Jamhuri, Woodley and neighborhoods along Ngong Road, as well as numerous zones in Lang’ata, Westlands, Parklands and Nairobi West.
Key public facilities such as Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi Hospital, City Mortuary, KEMRI flats, Forces Memorial Hospital, Wilson Airport, the Kenya Bureau of Standards, NEMA, the UNEP office, the US Embassy and the International School are also listed among those expected to experience the water cut.
The water authority urged users to manage any remaining supplies carefully while the repairs are underway, and it expects normal water service to resume after the pipeline is restored on Thursday night.
