Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, also ODM deputy party leader, said he will avoid personal attacks in the run‑up to the 2027 governor’s race, relying instead on his administration’s achievements in health, education and social support to counter critics.

He noted that the county’s health programme has provided treatment support to 67,619 children, relieving parents of medical expenses regardless of the illness.

In education, the county’s support scheme has reached 188,265 children in day and boarding schools, offering Sh5,000 per child in the first two years and Sh7,500 this year, with no discrimination based on religion, race or ethnicity.

The governor pledged to expand the education assistance to more children next year and highlighted a free nursery programme targeting 13,000 youngsters with meals, learning materials and schooling services.

Healthcare staffing has been bolstered by the recruitment of 120 doctors for county hospitals, and the administration is digitising patient flow to record arrival times and waiting periods, aiming to cut delays and improve accountability.

Nassir also referenced upcoming delivery of new medical equipment and ongoing testing and digitisation projects that are expected to further enhance service delivery in Mombasa’s health facilities.

He framed these tangible outcomes as the most credible response to political opponents, asserting that beneficiaries themselves will speak on his behalf rather than engaging in verbal sparring.
