The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, has announced 299 vacancies – 280 mentor positions and 19 mentor supervisor roles – as part of its poverty graduation and youth support programme.

All posts are fixed‑term contracts lasting 15 months with no renewal option, and successful candidates will be posted to communities across 16 sub‑counties in 10 counties.

Mentor positions are concentrated in arid and semi‑arid regions, with Baringo, Turkana, Wajir and Tana River each receiving 28 mentors, while counties such as Kisumu, Migori, Makueni, Murang’a, Taita‑Taveta and Marsabit host one or two sub‑counties with 14 mentors per sub‑county.

Applicants for mentor roles must have at least a C‑minus mean grade in KCSE; a diploma in social work, education, psychology or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.

Mentor supervisor candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, psychology or a comparable field, plus at least one year of relevant experience and knowledge of safeguarding, gender equality and monitoring frameworks.

All applications must be submitted online through the State Department’s official portal, with the deadline set for 17 November 2026; only shortlisted candidates will be invited for in‑person interviews.

The ministry has confirmed that contracts will not be extended beyond the 15‑month term, urging applicants to consider this fixed‑term nature when applying.
