Management University of Africa (MUA) announced that Prof. Jacob Thuranira Kaimenyi will serve as its second chancellor, taking over from founding chancellor Dr. Architect Reuben Musyoka Mutiso whose term ended on 21 October 2026.

The university’s board of trustees said Kaimenyi’s extensive experience in governance, academia and diplomacy will support MUA’s pursuit of excellence in management education.

Kaimenyi’s career spans dentistry, higher‑education leadership and senior government roles, including serving as Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Education, Science and Technology from 2013 and later for Lands, Housing and Urban Development until 2018.

He also held diplomatic posts as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO and ambassador to Belgium, the European Union and Luxembourg, and participated in missions for the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States.

Kaimenyi’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Nairobi (1974‑1978), a postgraduate diploma from the University of Mangalore, and a doctorate from the University of Nairobi, followed by a professorship and deputy vice‑chancellorship at the same institution.

MUA, a chartered university based in Nairobi and sponsored by the Kenya Institute of Management, received its Letter of Interim Authority in 2011 and achieved full charter status in May 2024, offering certificates to postgraduate diplomas in management studies.
