A group of traders in Malindi, Kilifi County, claim an M‑Pay agent received roughly Sh10 million from them for mobile‑money float top‑ups but did not complete the transactions.

The traders name the agent as Rahma Seif Albusaid, saying she collected the money between August and September and that the funds have not been delivered, leaving individual losses ranging from Sh600,000 to more than Sh1.2 million.

The complaints were lodged at the Malindi police station about three weeks ago, and each trader was issued an occurrence‑book number, but no arrest has been made so far.

Abdulkarim Alhamudi, one of the complainants, said the group has repeatedly visited the police station without receiving assistance and is now asking Safaricom’s M‑Pay to help trace the agent, whose phone is reportedly switched off.

Another trader, Twaif Mohamed, noted that several other businesspeople have filed similar complaints, confirming that the matter has been recorded with occurrence‑book numbers and urging police to act swiftly.

Malindi Sub‑County Police Commander Moses Kosgei acknowledged receiving multiple complaints and said officers are following leads, but the suspect remains at large.

The traders have asked investigators to determine the fate of the money, recover the funds, and have appealed to Safaricom for assistance in locating the agent.
