Lockheed Martin disclosed a $420 million capital investment to enlarge its Camden, Arkansas manufacturing complex, a move expected to generate 650 new full‑time jobs within five years.
The project, announced on 2 November 2026, will expand production capacity for the PAC‑3 interceptor, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system and the Precision Strike Missile at the Highland Industrial Park site.
Camden Operations currently employs roughly 1,100 workers; the additional 650 positions will raise the site’s headcount by more than half.
General manager Adam Bailey said the investment is being made at “unprecedented speed and scale” to expand capacity and deliver capabilities to warfighters faster.
State officials highlighted the expansion as a boost to Arkansas’s defense industrial base, with Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders calling Camden the state’s “Arsenal of Freedom.”
The Camden site, established in 1979, spans 2.2 million square feet on 2,427 acres and already produces a range of missile systems, including ATACMS, GMLRS, HIMARS and the M270 launcher.
Lockheed Martin’s broader Arkansas program includes a Munitions Acceleration Center, broken ground in January 2026, aimed at scaling THAAD and PAC‑3 output through advanced manufacturing and robotics.
The company expects the new hires to be spread over the five‑year period, averaging about 130 new employees per year.
