Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) issued a formal notice on 27 October 2026 to 68 named individuals occupying land in Jomvu, Mombasa County, directing them to vacate.
The notice, filed under Form LA and citing Rule 65 of the Land Act, identifies the parcel as LR No. Jomvu MN/V/222/2 and gives occupants three months – until late January 2027 – to remove structures, crops and livestock.
Occupants are instructed to stop all activities on the land immediately, dismantle any constructions, clear cultivated crops and livestock, and fully vacate within the 90‑day window.
The notice warns that once the 90‑day period ends, KPLC will proceed with eviction “without any further reference to you at your costs and peril,” meaning the occupants will bear the financial burden of removal.
Copies of the notice were served to the Deputy County Commissioner for Jomvu Sub‑County and the Officer Commanding Police Division for Jomvu, indicating that both administrative and security agencies have been alerted for possible enforcement.
The notice does not provide compensation, alternative land or relocation assistance to any of the named occupants.
Any occupant wishing to contest the notice must file a challenge in the Environment and Land Court, which has jurisdiction over such land disputes in Kenya.
