The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) issued a circular announcing a supplementary assessment window for diploma teacher trainees who failed or missed the July 2026 College Based Assessments.

Principals of teacher training colleges must register eligible candidates between 9 Nov and 15 Dec 2026; after registration, individual timetables will be provided.

The supplementary assessments are scheduled for 18 Jan to 12 Feb 2027 and will include both College Based and Summative components according to each programme’s timetable.

Eligible programmes are the Diploma in Primary Education (DPTE), Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education (DSTE), Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) and the Diploma in Teacher Education for Pre‑Primary and Primary (DTE PP&P).

Assessment fees are Ksh7,200 payable through eCitizen; trainees referred in the practicum component must pay an additional Ksh5,000.

Colleges with fewer than five registered candidates cannot operate as independent assessment centres and must channel registrations through larger approved institutions.

Principals are required to submit signed nominal rolls, medical reports for disabled trainees and proof of payment by 30 Dec 2026.

The supplementary schedule follows an appeal by the Kenya Teachers Colleges Principals Association, which sought an extra opportunity for trainees needing to meet graduation requirements in March 2027.
