The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) published a five‑day forecast that covers 44 of Kenya’s 47 counties, spanning Friday 23 October to Tuesday 27 October.
Thunderstorms are projected for 21 counties, chiefly in western Kenya, the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria basin.
Isiolo, Turkana and Kajiado are the only counties expected to stay completely dry throughout the period.
Temperature swings will be pronounced, with Turkana reaching highs of 38 °C and Nyandarua seeing lows of 8 °C.
Kericho, Kisii and Nyamira are among the counties expected to face the most intense weather, with moderate showers, thunder and lightning occurring on at least three of the five days.
Coastal areas such as Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu will remain dry through Saturday; showers are forecast to begin on Sunday, with moderate rains on Monday and Tuesday mornings in Kilifi and Lamu.
In the north, Mandera is expected to receive moderate rain on Sunday and Monday, while Wajir will see light rain on Monday followed by moderate rain on Tuesday; Garissa and Marsabit are projected to have lighter falls mainly from Monday onward.
Central and eastern counties will mostly see rain at night or in the afternoons from Sunday, with moderate overnight showers in Tharaka‑Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga and Murang’a, and lighter showers in Nyandarua on Tuesday afternoon.
Nairobi will enjoy sunny weather until Sunday night, when light showers are expected, followed by additional rain on Monday afternoon and night and into Tuesday morning.
KMSA advises residents to consult its daily 24‑hour forecast for county‑specific details and to contact the county directors of meteorological services for localized guidance.
