The Directorate of Criminal Investigations announced that Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, the elected Member of the County Assembly for Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in Kitui County, was taken into custody by detectives from Kamukunji Police Station on Mfangano Street.
Detectives said actionable intelligence and CCTV footage identified Musyoka in connection with three reported mobile‑phone theft incidents that occurred in Nairobi’s Central Business District during August and September 2026.
In addition to the phone‑theft allegations, the DCI disclosed that Musyoka is subject to an outstanding warrant in Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024 after failing to appear in court following his release on bond by Makadara Law Courts on a prior stealing charge.
The former suspect remains in police custody while detectives complete the necessary processing ahead of his first court appearance, known as arraignment.
The Directorate reiterated that no individual is exempt from the law, emphasizing that investigations will continue irrespective of a person’s political position or status.
While the arrest follows the phone‑theft probe, the allegations have not yet been adjudicated; Musyoka’s guilt will be determined by the courts in due course.
