The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) issued a notice directing broadcasters, audiovisual distributors and gaming operators to adhere to licensing and content‑classification rules throughout the October‑December school holiday.

KFCB said the extended break could increase children’s exposure to unsuitable material as they spend more time on television, streaming platforms, social media and online gaming.

The board highlighted that nearly two months away from school may raise the risk of learners encountering age‑inappropriate content across digital and broadcast media.

Parents, guardians and caregivers were urged to activate parental controls, set screen‑time limits and ensure children only access content matching their age.

The notice also called on adults to discuss media choices with children and monitor their online activities, peer interactions and environments to guard against harmful influences.

KFCB said it is collaborating with other government agencies to intensify monitoring and compliance checks in both online and offline venues, including premises where children might be admitted to adult‑content areas.

The board encouraged the public to report any inappropriate audiovisual material via its email address or social‑media channels.
