The Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRSC) reports a national average price of KSh4,243.50 for a 90‑kilogram bag of white maize as of 12 October 2026.

In Nairobi, traders listed dry maize at KSh51 per kilogram on 7 October, translating to roughly KSh4,590 per bag, which is KSh347 above the WRSC average.

Bungoma’s market price on 30 September was KSh50 per kilogram, or about KSh4,500 per bag, also exceeding the national benchmark.

Wholesale rates differ markedly within counties; Kakamega Town recorded KSh42.22 per kilogram, while Nairobi’s Kawangware market logged KSh55 per kilogram.

In Kisumu, the Ahero market showed a wholesale price of KSh65 per kilogram, underscoring price swings even in major production zones.

The Ministry of Agriculture’s Kenya Agricultural Market Information System (KAMIS) mirrors these disparities, confirming that local stock levels, transport costs, demand strength and proximity to production areas drive price gaps.

As fresh harvests from main growing regions arrive, traders and consumers await potential price adjustments; farmers with surplus may benefit if current levels hold, while shoppers could see higher costs for maize flour and related foods if prices stay elevated.
