Kenya Power announced a planned maintenance outage that will affect areas across five counties on Monday, 5 October 2026.
The interruption will start at 8:30 am and is expected to finish by 5:00 pm, according to the utility’s notice issued on Sunday evening.
In Nairobi County, the Kosovo area will lose supply from 9 am to 5 pm, while parts of Kitsuru – including Gachie, Nyari West, Redhill Road and Rosslyn Green Crescent – will face the same timeframe.
Kericho County’s designated zone, covering Greenview Hospital, Green Square Mall, TRF and several markets, will also be without power from 9 am to 5 pm.
In Uasin Gishu, Kong’nyalil, Kaplolo and the entire Uswo Village will experience a shorter cut from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Nyeri County’s Goodwood Properties area will see supply halted from 9 am to 5 pm.
Embu County zones – Makutano, Rukuriri Tea Factory and Kanja – will be without electricity from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Kenya Power cited the need to maintain and upgrade power lines, connect new customers and support road construction works as the reasons for the scheduled interruption.
Customers in the listed zones have been advised to plan ahead, especially those relying on electricity for business operations or medical equipment.
The utility invoked Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, which permits scheduled interruptions for network maintenance and upgrades.
Kenya Power notes that such scheduled maintenance is a regular part of its mandate to improve grid reliability and expand electricity access nationwide.
