Kenya Power announced a planned power interruption affecting three counties on Sunday, 11 October 2026, as part of scheduled maintenance on the national grid.

Kenya Power cited routine maintenance, network upgrades, new customer connections and road‑construction‑related infrastructure replacement as the reasons for the interruption.

The notice complies with Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, which requires utilities to give advance warning before any planned supply disruption.

Affected locations include parts of Nairobi County – notably the Mombasa Road corridor covering Alpha Centre, REREC Offices, Nice & Lovely, Manchester Knit, Viraj Complex, Crown Health, Auto Express and the Total petrol station opposite JKIA – and adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu County, the outage will affect the Lumama and Mugumu areas (including Lumama, Mugumu Pri, Manyonyi, Malaika, Marakusi, Makutano market) and the Gathigiriri‑Karira corridor (including Lainisha, Budget, Stadium, MRM, NIB, Airstrip, Mwanikis Residence, Gathigiriri Prison, among others).

Residents and businesses in the listed zones are advised to arrange alternative power sources ahead of the 8 am start time and to expect supply to be restored by 5 pm, unless unforeseen complications arise during the work.
