The Kenya Meteorological Service released a forecast on September 18 indicating that light to moderate rainfall will accompany cold and cloudy conditions in parts of the country from Sunday, September 20, through Thursday, September 24.

Intermittent cold and cloudy weather is expected in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Wajir and Garissa counties.

In Nairobi, light rains are forecast for the mornings of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, followed by light afternoon showers; temperatures will range between 14 °C and 28 °C, with the highest temperature on Sunday.

Kiambu will see light morning rains from Sunday to Tuesday and moderate afternoon showers on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures between 16 °C and 28 °C.

Nyandarua is projected to experience some of the coldest nights, with minimum temperatures dropping to 5 °C on Monday and maximums between 23 °C and 26 °C, accompanied by a light shower on Monday afternoon.

Coastal counties—including Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu—are expected to receive moderate showers on Sunday, after which rainfall will generally reduce to light showers and sunny intervals from Monday, with Mombasa’s maximum temperature reaching 29 °C.

Other parts of the country not listed for rain are expected to have mainly sunny intervals during the same period.
